Sometimes you win some…
James over at Small-Town Big-Shot recently hosted a fiction writing contest which I, having not stretched those particular creative muscles in a while, decided to take part. One small potential hurdle was the requirement that the piece be humourous. I hadn’t written humour intentionally before. But hey, people are frequently laughing at the things I say/write (hopefully not most of what I write here though!) so I thought I’d give it a shot. I had lots of fun doing so, and in fact I’d have been no less pleased if I hadn’t done well in the voting… But I won!
Thanks James for hosting the contest, and for giving me the nudge I needed to start writing fiction again. And thanks to the other contestants! Great work all round!
Now to decide what to spend my prize on. I have a long list to choose from!

Congratulations Mark!!
Look at you - smart, witty, a good writer and a wee bit dangerous…the whole package. Nice job on the humor.
I enjoyed the story.

Thanks Jenny, so I’m not so sure about the dangerous bit
